About this rendering referral website

Geelong House Rendering is a referral website run by Yes Right Pty Ltd: how enquiries are handled, who quotes and how to check a renderer in Victoria.

Geelong House Rendering is an enquiry and referral website operated by Yes Right Pty Ltd, ABN 91 664 546 061. It helps homeowners around Greater Geelong describe a rendering job clearly so that an independent local provider can decide whether to quote it.

The website is not a rendering business. It has no workshop or yard in Geelong, no staff on the tools, no customer reviews and no finished jobs of its own to show. Any images on the site illustrate the kind of work discussed; they are not photos of jobs arranged through this site. Our guides draw on published sources such as the Building and Plumbing Commission, the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme and manufacturers’ installation guides, and each page links to the sources it relied on.

What happens to an enquiry

  1. You fill in the quote form with your suburb, contact details and a description of the walls you want rendered, repaired or recoated.
  2. Your details may be passed to one or more independent renderers who work in your area, so they can respond to the enquiry.
  3. A provider may ask for photos, measurements or a site visit before deciding whether to quote. Some jobs will not suit every provider, and availability is not guaranteed.
  4. If you receive a quote, you decide whether to go ahead. Nothing is booked by sending the form.

The privacy policy explains what details are collected and how to have them removed.

What the provider is responsible for

The renderer you choose is the business you deal with. They are responsible for the quote, the contract, the scope of work, the products and system used, payment terms, workmanship and any warranty. Before you agree to anything, ask for the scope in writing, including:

  • which walls, fences and piers are included and how many square metres the price is based on;
  • the product names for every coat in the system;
  • what preparation and repairs are included, and what counts as extra work;
  • whether painting is included;
  • how variations will be agreed and priced;
  • the payment stages and the deposit.

The rendering cost guide has a fuller list of what to compare between quotes.

How to check a renderer in Victoria

Registration rules for rendering in Victoria depend on what is in the contract:

  • Rendering on its own. Solid plastering and rendering is one of the Domestic Builder (limited) classes where the Building and Plumbing Commission only requires registration if two or more of those classes are carried out under one contract. A rendering-only job may be done by someone who is not registered.
  • Rendering with other trades. A single contract that covers rendering plus painting, tiling or another listed trade needs a registered builder when it is worth over ten thousand dollars.
  • Fixing new cladding. Installing AAC or foam cladding falls under Domestic Builder (limited to external wall cladding), which is not exempt.
  • Work that needs a building permit. Consumer Affairs Victoria says this must be done by a registered practitioner regardless of cost.

To check a provider, search the BPC’s find and check a practitioner register by name, business name or registration number. It shows whether the registration is current, the class of work it covers and any conditions. The BPC also keeps a Compliance and Enforcement Register of disciplinary and prosecution action. The BPC warns against relying only on advertising, business cards, quotes or a verbal claim, so look the person up yourself. For a provider who is not registered because the job is rendering only, ask for their ABN, their public liability insurance details and the addresses of recent jobs you can look at from the street.

What this website does not cover

The site is for house rendering, render repairs and coating systems. It is not for structural repairs, underpinning, roofing, plumbing, electrical work or asbestos. If a crack in your render looks structural, start with a structural engineer or a registered builder, and read the render repairs page for the warning signs. If your home is in a Heritage Overlay, rendering needs a planning permit, as the Geelong area page explains.

Who runs the site

Yes Right Pty Ltd operates this website as an enquiry service. It does not employ renderers, and you pay the provider you hire, not this website, for the work. The business you hire is responsible for the job from quote to completion. To ask a question about an enquiry you sent, reply to the message you received after submitting the form, or follow the steps in the privacy policy.
